THE SUSTAINABILITY
Respect for the environment and sustainable energy have always been important for Tessitura Carlo Papis: beginning with the well-kept grounds that surround the factory, it has consistently followed in this direction, investing in clean and efficient energy in the last few years.
In particular, in 2012 a photovoltaic system was installed which allows the weaving factory to cover a large part of its energy needs and to considerably lower fuel consumption and electricity costs.
Other than renewable energy, Tessitura Papis has focused on energy efficiency and on the general optimization of the electrical system for an efficient use of energy. Since 2013, Papis has been a pioneer in this field by replacing old neon lamps with modern and efficient LED lamps and by installing inverters in the weaving room air treatment system and in the forklift charging machine.
Regarding environmental protection and process certification, Tessitura Papis obtained in 2017 the Seri.Co certification, a guarantee that ensure the quality and health and safety requirements of the fabric and the production system from which the product is born.
Furthermore, in 2021 Tessitura Papis obtained the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certification, which is the most important certification in the field of responsible and sustainable development in the textile sector.
The GOTS provides for the release of an environmental declaration verified by a third party which certifies: the content of natural fibers from organic farming of both intermediate and finished products, the maintenance of traceability throughout the entire production process, restrictions on the use of chemicals and compliance with environmental and social criteria at all stages of the production chain.
The purpose of all these measures is to limit company costs and increase our competitiveness, whilst encouraging social responsibility towards an environment that is becoming increasingly more fragile.
